Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Arab Republic of Egypt

International cooperation constitutes one of the main pillars of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research launched in March 2023, in line with the national ‘Egypt Vision 2030’ strategy.

The holding of the French Egyptian Symposium for Scientific and Academic Cooperation today is a clear illustration of this commitment: it marks an unprecedented turning point in the cooperation between Egypt and France, a historic partnership that continues into our contemporary era, which is marked by major challenges calling for deeper scientific and research integration and collaboration.

This cooperation relies on modern scientific programmes and research priorities that serve the development plans of both countries, with particular emphasis on advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovation to support industry and the national economy.

Joint scientific and research cooperation between Egypt and France also reaffirms the leadership role of both countries in supporting development efforts across the African continent and within the Francophone space, especially through support for young people, who make up the majority of the population in both Egypt and Africa.

Supporting youth, strengthening human capital through modern scientific and technological programs, and equipping them with skills adapted to the future and the demands of the job market is a shared objective. This goal reflects Egypt’s pioneering role in Africa, where it holds a leading position in scientific research and innovation.

The implementation of partnerships between Egyptian and French universities and research centers makes it possible to address shared priority projects such as climate change, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, health, science, and many more, in pursuit of this goal.

Through this strategic approach, Egypt and France reaffirm their leading role in supporting the development challenges shared by both countries.
